Located just across the street from Detroit, many Canadians often neglect Windsor in favor of its American neighbor. But there are many things to do in this fun city that warrant a weekend getaway or a getaway. We have visited Windsor countless times because we live only 2 and a half hours away by car and we usually use it for our overland crossing to the United States.

In our opinion, Windsor is a great place to visit. It is full of novelties and is home to a fashionable community culture thanks to its popular university. Many of my friends attended the University of Windsor for musical theater, and I spent many nights in downtown Windsor enjoying the view of the Detroit skyline.

The magnificent view of the Detroit skyline is not the only cool thing about this city. Windsor will surprise you with all the activities it has to offer. You can take a walk along the river, visit the Bars in downtown Windsor or learn about Indigenous history and the American Invasion of Canada in 1812, when the United States declared war on Great Britain. Windsor even has fascinating stories about the subway and the rum race when alcohol was smuggled during Prohibition.
